Notebook PC monthly tasks

Once a month you should consider performing the following recommended tasks listed below which can also be found in the handy HP PC Tune-up Calendar.  Don't forget weekly tasks are still important.

1. Update your software and drivers

Having the most current software and drivers will ensure that your PC is running the latest versions which can add functionality and improve the performance of your system.

2. Perform the HP System Health Check

Determining if your notebook PC needs to be updated with software or hardware is simple and easy with the automated HP System Health Check which is a feature of our Help and Support Center found on your notebook PC.

3. Clean-up temporary and old files

The Disk Cleanup will delete temporary files that are no longer being used on your hard drive.  This will save space for the files you do use.

4. Defragment your hard drive

Over time, your computer creates, deletes and moves many different-sized files on your hard drive. This normal usage of your computer will leave fragments of files separated and disorganized.


Disk Defragmenter consolidates fragmented files and folders on your computer's hard disk then rearranges them to increase available space. As a result, your computer works with the hard drive faster and more efficiently.
